Death Dreams and Desire

About Memento Collective A collective of five working artists who meet regularly to share and discuss the progress of their work. Through doing so they have identified a number of common themes; memory, loss, re-emergence and return. These are expressed by each artist through a variety of practices, concepts and techniques, including drawing, painting and printmaking; sculpture; photography and film; documentation, installation and live art.

Death Dreams & Desire

Memento Collective, a group of five contemporary artists, have found a source of inspiration in the work of Sigmund Freud. This collective exhibition, ‘Death, Dreams & Desire’ responds to Freud’s ideas and thinking through a multitude of creative approaches, from the haunting and self-questioning to the deathly and the curious. All of the senses will be stimulated through sound, film, photography, drawing, textiles and paint. This group exhibition shines new light on Freudian thinking and ideas, and will keep visitors intrigued long after they leave. DEATHS DREAMS & DESIRES We are excited to announce that our exhibition entitled 'Death, Dreams & Desire' will take place from 22nd September to 2nd October 2022. The venue is the unique Safehouse 1 in Peckham, London.

Informing my practice…..

It's been a while - the past few months have been a blur - emotionally, physically, mentally. All the same really, all linked, all part of the same being. The fog or blur is beginning to clear- focus, let's hope it's not just a fleeting moment of clarity. I have been reading both fictional and …

The idea that our memories of childhood or even recent events are as they seem or are they post memory -an interpretation based on our own experience of events mixed in with other influences such as recounted memories from others, photographs or similar incidents...... I am working on a project with the group 'memento collective' …

RTDP : Relief

Macro photography can be an inspiration in many ways. The detail unseen by the eye can be revealed and magnified into abstracted shapes and surfaces creating a many layered relief of imagery. An earlier layered oil painting incorporating wire forms and marble dust, carborundum and pigments dusted onto the surface, the wire form partly detached …
