I couldn't resist promoting our group exhibition 'In Our Garden' for today's challenge: Verdant. Living in a garden city it's all about open green space and well being. If only we were closer to the sea it would be utopia for me. April 3rd - May 16th 2020monotype - horse chestnut 1/1 Verdant

'100' in my garden My garden is an important part of my everyday. First thing in the morning I open the blinds and take stock of what's happening out there. Many of the plants and shrubs have no fragrance except perhaps the hyacinths planted around the garden. Many of the shrubs have their own aroma, …

‘time lapse II’. Exhibition at Hertford House
time : the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present and future regarded as a whole (Oxford Dictionary) the measured or measurable period during which an action, process or condition exists or continues (Webster's Collegiate Dictionary) My preoccupation with the concept of time has led me to re examine my practice- viewing previous …

Photo of the day
Still playing with the idea of photo collage for the Art Trail in April. Decided to compile my own collage and play with the individual images before I take the plunge and order a more professional printed collage. Very time consuming capturing these stills from the time lapse but good thinking time too.......... this is …

Amazing skies
I experienced the most amazing skies on new years day, walking back from Hertford to Dicker Mill, where my studio is located. The sky was grey/black and the sun shone on the tree tops making them seemingly ablaze. Hartham Common Hertford Sue Vincent’s Daily Echo Thursday photo prompt: Renewal #writephoto

Weekly photo challenge : My favourite place
My favourite place to be is by the sea- no surprises there but more specifically along the northerly Cornish coastline at Gwithian Towans where Godrevy Lighthouse looks out across to the open sea in one direction and St Ives Bay inland. The crumbly coastline is being slowly eroded away by stormy seas and every visit …

I’d rather be ……..by the sea
A would be adventurer who has every excuse imaginable as to why she stays where she is! But in my dreams- it's no secret -<a href="http://I’d Rather Be…"> I really would rather be here. The West Country has it all- except the one thing that's the most important to me- my family. I have …
Worn by tide and time……
My current project is an investigation into hag stones and beach pebbles generally, how they form, what creates their weathered appearance and how time and tides have worn them down and round and created their fascinating labyrinths, and unique surfaces. These are a few of the initial images- where I go from here is anyone's guess....... …
Gazing through the window……..
As I sat gazing through the window, on the morning of my birthday, in wonderment of the sun rising in front of me on the horizon watching the waves powering onto the shingle beach, I briefly mused on the idea of time passing (another year older) and my horizon moving with me wherever I go never …
Happy New Year!
A new year with renewed expectations. As a visual artist I will limit my words to just wishing you all a wonderful new year that I hope fulfils all of your hopes and aspirations. My word for the year : kindness.
December – It’s snowing on WordPress!
Just returned from an amazing 10 days in Cornwall. My brain is bombarded with imagery of landscape and art. The Chance into Abstraction 3 day workshop was so inspiring. Ian Robertson led the workshop and it was all I had hoped for. You can view his work here: http://www.robertson-wardman.co.uk The Robyn Denny exhibition was also amazing …
The best place on Earth
They say home is where the heart is and I love to be near my family, there is however a place where my heart lingers every time I visit. The Cornish coast line is stunning and the landscape compelling. One day maybe when my ashes return to the Earth https://wheresmybackpack.com/2017/04/21/travel-theme-earth/
Opaque ? peeling away the layers in the landscape.
As an artist inspired by the landscape I am especially interested in capturing images that are often overlooked because they are hidden by a veil of overwhelming information that is beyond the vision and comprehension of the human eye. The landscape is overwhelming for me and my way of honing in on the detail is …

Surprise : weekly photo challenge
.........so spring isn't really a surprise, it's a yearly event, even so why do I feel that flutter of excitement when the first lime buds break through the seemingly dormant dried twigs of every hedgerow. When the first glimmer of lush shoots push through the dead leaves?Surprise
