Of the primary colours I would definitely say Blue is my first choice. Yellow not so much my favourite, except during spring time when daffodils and broom are in bloom and Easter is full of yellow. But for the most part Blue is the one.
Red does however feature in some aspects of my life, strangely my kitchen has red theme : many of my appliances are red as a foil against the stark white cupboards and black granite worktops. My phone and i pad have red cases…in fact the more I look around my life the more I realise red is very much present..
The one feature in my garden I was aware of ( as I planned it) is one area planted with red dogwood, Japanese Maple, and a fabulous CLERODENDRUM. This actually has a waxy blue berry that has red ‘petals’. A gift from a dear friend for a milestone birthday, it gives me so much pleasure every year when the red leaves appear ( already here this year) followed by a pretty delicate white blossom and then the jewel in the crown, the bright blue berries with the red petals.
Also this year I have planted some red tulips in pots. Every year my tulips emerge beheaded I suspect the deer eat them. So this year I planted them in pots and kept them close to the house and they have been magnificent. Standing to attention with their elegant heads turned upwards.
So thank you for the prompt, and bringing to my attention the fact that red is very much present and a welcomed bright spot in my life.
