Freya Pocklington’s work presents curious combinations of dogs and other creatures, from insects to walking sausages, interacting in unusual scenarios where scale and species are seamlessly disregarded. Pocklington’s evocation of ‘personality’ in her subjects is accurately observed, capturing the imagined attitudes that we insistently project onto animals and objects. The oddly human traits displayed are humorous in her carefully staged scenes, but also darkly troubling
