I openly admit to my obsession of constantly taking ‘snapshots’ of anything and everything I encounter on my daily journeys.
I have recently returned from sixteen days in and around Vancouver followed by twelve days in and around St Ives, Cornwall.
Needless to say the scenery in both places was stunning, stunning and almost overwhelming. The Mountains in Vancouver create spectacular compostions that cannot be replicated in any medium or equalled in any way! My snapshots only serve as an aide memoire to my inspiring experiences.
St Ives, with it’s many coves, beaches and stunning scenery has a unique light and atmosphere- the sky and sea constantly changing mood and hue impossible to capture, perhaps only to reflect the moment of experience in a sketch here and a click of the camera there. I also had a great three day workshop with Liz Hough at St Ives School of Painting. She was an exceptional tutor and I got so much encouragement and inspiration from her insights. Despite all of these observations I will attach a few snapshots of my inspirational time away this late summer.
