Harriet and Charlie have persuaded seven friends to sign up to do The London Triathlon – in August!
“We’re in three teams of three, all racing against each other to raise money for Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, in memory of our Dad, Paul Bentley. Each team has a swimmer, a cyclist and a runner, carrying out the olympic length of a triathlon Swim – 1500m, Cycle – 40k, Run – 10k.Sue Ryder is an incredible charity, treating people with incurabile illnesses. As many of you know, we lost our Dad to cancer at the beginning of the year. Dad spent two weeks in the Sue Ryders Leckhampton Court Hospice, in Cheltenham. The care was second to none, the nurses spent time getting to know Dad and making him comfortable. The chef would magic up amazing puddings and bring them to his bed with a large jug of cream, he loved it! One night Dad couldnt sleep so a nurse sat with him and chatted for hours about cycling and music, they really did make his time with them the best they could. We were allowed to visit whenever we wanted, spending time with him, cracking jokes and remembering good times. The family support was outstanding, we felt extremely well cared for and the support from Sue Ryder still continues.Today 18 million people in the UK live with an incurable illness, last year Sue Ryder helped 16,400 people and their families. It costs £5,500 to run one Sue Ryder hospice for just one day. They really need our help.“_______________________________________________ The teams:Team 1 – Soph H Swimming, Charlie Cycling, Becky RunningTeam 2 – Hugh Swimming, Harriet Cycling, Sophie R RunningTeam 2 – Sam Swimming, Ben Cycling, Chris Running____________________________________________________________**If you’re free on Saturday 2nd August, come down and support us in the London Docklands!**
