Digswell Artists are creating new work in response to Welwyn Garden City’s Centenary. The group exhibition will be launched on April 2nd 2020 with a private view at 8pm at The New Maynard Gallery Campus West Welwyn Garden City. The exhibition continues until May 16th.
The work I have created relates to my own garden, I have lived in Welwyn Garden for over 30 years and my garden is very precious to me, and somewhere I can retreat and relax. I am so fortunate to be visited regularly by squirrels, foxes, hedgehogs, deer and a myriad of bird life. My latest visitor- a greater spotted woodpecker! I have documented the wildlife and changing seasons over the years. Initially I made mono prints of some stunning shrubs growing in my garden, together with my horse chestnut tree, which has grown over the years from a single conker planted by my children in 1987. A word of warning : they grow taller than a house!
This leads me to my recent work for the exhibition, a thumbnail collection of 100 images of my garden- to represent the 100 years since the creation of Welwyn Garden City.
